About 10 years ago I began a journey toward living a more holistic, non-toxic life. I slowly removed plastics from my home and replaced those with natural products like glass, wood, and stainless steel. I found healthier, toxin free cleaning products and body care products, many which I make myself. I began sourcing organic whole foods and growing my own vegetables when I could. I rid my closest of plastics (polyester and acrylic) and began buying organic cotton, linen, and wool clothing.
In 2024 I began making non-toxic candles for my family and for friends. Working with soy and beeswax led me next to making my own Beeswax Food Wraps. These wraps are made with 100% cotton fabric and coated with a mixture of organic beeswax, organic jojoba oil and natural pine resin. The result is a versatile wrap that can be used in place of plastic wrap and plastic bags in the kitchen.
Of course the artist in me went crazy with all of the fun possibilities of fabric options. Anyone else out there go nuts for fabrics?? To start I found these patterns to make sets of Beeswax Wraps to sell at the Farmer’s Market alongside my candles. How cute are they?
